One of our favorite things to do here at Kirsten’s Corner is find bar pins from the Edwardian and Art Deco eras and have our jeweler gently bend them into beautiful bangles. This piece began as a platinum brooch with an orange-yellow saturated sapphire that reminds us of a glowing sunset. Along the filigree are Old European Cut diamonds that range in size from 2.5 – 2.75 mm. They are each bezel set, and the filigree work is a nice rhythmic pattern of intertwined lace-like milgrain.
Platinum first came into use during the Edwardian and Art Deco eras. Because it is so dense, it lends itself well to the filigree work that was popular at the time—as seen in this bracelet.
The bar pin is set into a new platinum bangle with a very secure safety clasp. The bracelet is 6.75”. The bangle is 2.65 mm wide, the bar pin is 4.6 mm wide, and 6 mm at its widest point (the sapphire). The bracelet weighs 15.85 grams. Marked as platinum.
The sapphire is 4.75 mm and weighs .55 of a carat. The six natural Old European Cut diamonds range in size from 2.5 to 2.75. They are bright and lively and weigh approximately 1/3 of carat.
Fits a 6.75” wrist.
This bangle looks good with anything and stacks well with other bracelets.
