Antique (1880 – 1900) all original Sleepy Hollow Chair upholstered in William Morris style fabric.
Carved apron, turned arms with decorative finials, turned legs typical of the early Eastlake style. Features high upholstered back and a concave upholstered seat. The fabric is colourful – leaves and flowers, with the upholstery very symmetrically laid out & professionally done.
Buttoned upholstery is in good condition.
Mahogany wood is dark brown, mature and of excellent quality. There is a small footstool that was made by the owners grandmother which does need reupholstering. It was made from ‘apple juice cans!’. The chair itself was originally stuffed with straw. The straw has long been removed.
A lovely comfortable piece of furniture for snuggling up in, in front of the fire!
